Vice-Chancellor's Message
Dr JohnWelcome to the internet site of the University of Northern Bahr El Ghazal.  Our University is one of newly instituted universities. It  was established by appointment of the Vice Chancellor in May 2010 and passing of University Act 2010 in the National Legislative Assembly in June of the same year.

I and the entire staff of University see our task as one of laying a solid foundation for a modern university in Aweil and surrounding areas within Northern Bahr El Ghazal State. The vision we set for ourselves is to establish a learning institution that will provide an ultimate learning experience to its students and faculty through the excellence of its educational and research programmes and through positive involvement with local community projects in order to raise capacity and improve their quality of life. This is no small task and we have recognized from the outset that it is going to demand huge financial resources, good planning, partnerships with state government and local community, not to mention leadership and hard work in order to realize this vision.

Since the appointment of the Vice Chancellor, we have appointed the Principal, Academic Secretary, and the deans for our first faculties:

ü  Faculty of Architecture and Physical Planning

ü  Faculty of Petroleum Engineering and Earth Sciences

ü  Faculty of Health Sciences and Medical Technology

ü  Faculty for Preparatory, Human Resource Development, and Vocational Studies.

We have established the administration office in Aweil and opened a coordination office in Khartoum in Arkweet. And if all goes according to plan, we expect to admit the first budge of students in the academic year beginning October 2011.

Please take your time to explore our mission and goals. Whether you are looking for employment opportunities, intending to apply for admission to one of our programmes, have some good suggestion or comments to make, or would like to support the new university financially, please call me  on (+249123106510)              (+249123106510)       or write to me  through my email address:

We will try our very best to answer all your queries as soon as possible.

 Yours sincerely

Professor John Apuruot Akec
